This week favorites dominated going 11-5 and Unders had a slight edge going 9-7. Four of the five underdogs won the game straight up. Our selections were 6-5 with a profit of 2.58 units. The Monday nighter really hurt us since Jake Delhomme and the Panthers were absolutely terrible as they failed to cover the large spread. Additionally, because they couldn’t score the total was under by a margin of 19 points. We were a little more aggressive releasing a total of 11 plays, including five 4* selections and we were somewhat rewarded with a bigger profit than last week. Overall, we are 9-6 ATS and up 10.44 units of profit specifically with our ATS selections in this young season and therefore we will focus more heavily on releasing ATS selections rather than playing totals. The following is a summary of the key events that took place in week 3.

4* Premium Selection: Carolina +9
This is game is an absolute must win for the Panthers who are currently 0-2. If they fall to 0-3 their chances of making the playoffs this year are almost slim to none. The bottom line is that this is a primetime football game and they are going to bring their A game. This line is too inflated. In reality the Cowboys should not be favored by more than a score.

4* Premium Selection: New Orleans -5
The Saints proved two things against Philly last week. First, their offense is just unstoppable as they lit up 48 points against Philly’s stingy defense. Second, they can stop the run. New Orleans ranks 5th in run defense allowing an average of only 59 rushing yards per game.

After carefully reviewing the first two weeks of action we are releasing our week 3 power rankings. It is very early in the season so these rankings are considered more or less estimates. Instead of using a numbered ranking system where each team is ranked from a scale of 1 to 32, we have decided to use a 4 level scale. This gives us a lot more flexibility since it does not single out a specific team to be considered weaker than another but rather a selected group of teams. Continue Reading »

4* Premium Selection: New York -6.5
This game is more or less going to be a one sided affair. The result of Tampa’s complete organizational makeover in the offseason so far has been a complete disaster. The Bucs are a young team with a rookie coach who are in stage one of a long term rebuilding process.

3* Free Play: OVER 52
The Dolphins definitely do not have nearly the amount of talent San Diego has but they will keep this game close and could possibly win the game outright. Over the past two seasons, the Chargers have the tendency to struggle significantly at the beginning of the season.

3* Free Play: Denver -1
Oakland opened as the favorite but the line is rapidly changing. That is because the wrong team was favored. The Raiders should never be favored unless they are actually facing a team that is worse than they are.

2* Free Play: Detroit +6.5
The Redskins proved again last week why you cannot play them as a favorite. They were favored by 10 points against the Rams and were barely able to beat them. They didn’t even score a touchdown! Washington is 1-6 ATS in its last 7 as a favorite. They travel to Detroit to face the Lions, a team who has lost 19 consecutive regular season games.
