Carolina Panthers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Spread
|
It is always entertaining to watch a rivalry brew between panthers vs buccaneers. I would have to have complete faith in the opponent in order to bet against the Bucs at home. I like the Panthers in this one because they have proven themselves to be a true contender this season. They are 4-1 because they were able to find a way to beat San Diego on the road and come back from a 14 point deficit to defeat the Bears. They completely dominated the Falcons and Chiefs in their other 2 wins. There are 2 reasons why Carolina is having this kind of success this year. |
First, they have a wealth of depth offensively at all positions. The main component to their success has been a healthy Jake Delhomme. Second, they have been shutting down the opposition. I still can’t believe that they held K.C. to 0 points and 77 yards. Carolina’s defense ranks 4th in points and total yards allowed and third in pass defense. I just can’t see how the Bucs are going to be able to generate any kind of offense against them. Jeff Garcia will be starting and has already thrown 2 interceptions in 2 games. If Tampa was only able to generate 13 points against Denver, it is only logical to assume that they are going to struggle against one of the league’s strongest defensive teams. There are some key stats that strongly favor the Panthers in this matchup. Carolina is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings in Tampa and Jake Delhomme is 7-1 versus the Bucs. Tampa may be desperate for the win but Carolina will win because Delhomme is healthy and they are the better team.
