Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys: Spread
|
This Monday night football game between the Cowboys vs Eagles will undoubtedly be much more electrifying than both games that were featured last Monday. This is a matchup of two high-powered offenses. This year the Cowboys and Eagles appear to be two of the strongest teams in the NFC. Dallas may have more depth than Philadelphia on offense, but Philly appears to be a lot better than people think as shown in their performance against St. Louis where they gained an unbelievable 522 yards. Donovan McNabb has a new playmaker he can count on as a go to guy in rookie wide receiver DeSean Jackson. Last game he had 6 receptions for 106 yards and gained 97 yards in punt returns. The thought of having Brian Westbrook and DeSean Jackson as options on offense is quite comforting for Donovan McNabb. The main reason I like this pick is because it’s a fairly large spread for Dallas to cover and historically Philadelphia seems to play better than Dallas when these teams meet. Philly won 3 of the last 4 games by successfully containing Terrell Owens. The addition of cornerback Asante Samuel will definitely help them do this. Furthermore, Marion Barber was hurt against Cleveland and it is unclear whether he’s going to play. There are some significant trends that favour Philly in this matchup. First, the Eagles are 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings between these 2 teams. Second, the road team was 4-1 in the last 5 games. Finally, the underdog was 6-1 in the last 7. |
