Virginia Tech has quietly put together a really nice year so far. After taking a lead into the fourth quarter against Alabama in week one, they’ve knocked the snot out of Marshall and taken down previously undefeated Nebraska. Last week, they took on the overhyped Miami Hurricanes and sent them packing without much of a fight.

Now, they will roll into Wallace Wade Stadium for a noon kickoff against the Duke Blue Devils. It is true that Duke has improved some, but they aren’t anywhere near the level of Virginia Tech. The Devils have long been the ACC whipping boy and lots of good football teams have rolled up 40 points in Durham. Expect more of the same this week.

Duke gave up more than 50 points to Kansas earlier this season, and they struggled stopping athletic quarterback Todd Reising. This time around, they will have to contend with Tyrod Taylor, who is in an entirely different category athletically. Under Frank Beamer, the Hokies have shown a keen ability to take out their aggression on bad football teams, and I see no reason for that to stop on Saturday. Virginia Tech should win the with a 34-10 score or something of the like.
