peyton manningPremium Pick: Indianapolis -6

The Jags and Colts are heading in separate directions this season. Indy will clinch a playoff spot by defeating Jacksonville. At this point the 5-9 Jaguars are looking to end a very disappointing season on a positive note. This will be an exciting divisional prime time matchup to open the second last week of the regular season of the NFL. The Colts have come a long way this season. After losing 4 of its first 7 games of the season, Indianapolis has now won 7 in a row. This streak is mainly due to the fact that the Colts are finally beginning to click offensively. As a result, Indy is averaging 26 points per game in its last 6 contests. This is an increase of more than 5 points per game, when comparing Indy’s offensive production in its first 8 contests.

The Jags are playing without cornerback Rashean Mathis. He is the main component to their pass defense. With his absence, Peyton Manning will have an easy time picking apart Jacksonville’s secondary. One of the main reasons the Jaguars have a disappointing 5-9 record this season is because the Jags have had significant difficulty scoring against the opposition. They are only averaging 19.4 points per game. Lately, Jacksonville’s offense has been cold as ice, averaging 14.6 points in its last 5 contests.

They will be facing a surging Colts defense without running back Fred Taylor and receiver Matt Jones. Indianapolis has improved defensively in the latter half of the season. The Colts are allowing an average of only 19.6 points per game. Indianapolis has been quite hot defensively as of late, allowing an average of only 12.5 points per game in its last 4. There are several trends that favour the Colts in this one. They are 5-0-1 ATS in their last 6 Thursday games. Jacksonville on the other hand is 1-6 ATS in its last 7 home contests and 1-5 ATS in its last 6 divisional games and 1-4 ATS in its last 4 games overall.

The Colts are red hot and absolutely need this win. They will deliver offensively and will have an easy time limiting Jacksonville’s ability to put points on the scoreboard. This game will likely be similar to the Eagles blowout victory over the Browns last Monday. The Jags aren’t that bad but they are severely outmatched in this contest.

*** 6 pt Teaser Ticket ***

Indianapolis PK / Over 38 Reason: The Colts are winning this one. By teasing the ticket, you don’t worry about them winning and not covering. The over record for weeknight football games is 17-3-1. When adding the 6 point teaser element to the equation, the record improves to 19-2.
