mark sanchez3* Premium Selection: N.Y. Jets -2.5

I like the Jets for several reasons. They are 3-1 and their only loss came last week against the 4-0 New Orleans Saints who are undoubtebly one of the strongest and most balanced teams in the NFL. It is important to remember that the Jets managed to defeat the Texans in Houston, as well as the Titans and the Patriots.

The Dolphins on the other hand destroyed the now 1-4 Bills last week but aside from this blowout victory they are 0-3 and averaging only 14.3 points per game. Miami’s offense depends almost completely on its running game. Rex Ryan is already accustomed to Miami’s Wildcat offense since the Ravens faced the Dolphins in the playoffs last year when he was still their Defensive Coordinator. The result was a 27-9 victory for Baltimore. The bottom line is that if the Jets shutdown Miami’s running game, the Dolphins won’t move the chains. The Jets rank 4th in points allowed (14.2) and yards (277.8). The main concern for New York is rookie QB Mark Sanchez’s poor performance against New Orleans where he threw 3 picks and caused 2 defensive touchdowns. I am not too worried about Sanchez struggling in this one because the Dolphins rank 26th in pass defense and have only forced 4 turnovers. The Saints’ D on the other hand have already forced 13 turnovers. The bottom line is that the Jets D is just too strong for the Dolphins and therefore N.Y. will win the game and cover.
