ray lewisFree Pick: Baltimore +5

This Monday night football game will be quite different from the first four Monday night games we’ve seen thus far this season. This is a matchup featuring two of the league’s most powerful defensive teams, Steelers vs Ravens. The Ravens rank first in both points and yards allowed, meanwhile the Steelers rank second and third in those respective categories.

These teams have had limited success offensively. The Steelers demolished the Texans by a score of 38-17 in week 1 but at the cost of Ben Roethlisberger hurting his shoulder. He didn’t miss any games but his performance has clearly been affected by his injury as the Steelers have only managed an average of 8 points per game in week 2 and 3. He was sacked 9 times in a 15-6 loss against Philadelphia last week. You can expect that the Steelers will have limited success on offense against the best defense in the league as they will be without running back Willie Parker and because Roethlisberger is clearly nowhere near 100%. Baltimore may not be much of an offensive threat but they will cover 5 points because the Steelers will be able to generate little offense. As long as Baltimore can score 10-15 points, they will cover. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to bet moneyline for the underdog in this game as the matchup is quite favorable for Baltimore and you would triple your bet.
