ed reedFree Pick: Under 34.5

The logic for this pick is very simple. You have two of the league’s best defensive teams, Baltimore Ravens vs Pittsburgh Steelers with mediocre offenses at best. Roethlisberger is playing hurt and since he’s been hurt the Steelers have generated a total of 16 points over the last 2 games. If the Steelers had exceptional trouble generating points against Cleveland and Philadelphia it is only reasonable to expect that they will have a very hard time against the Ravens.

Baltimore ranks first in both points and yards allowed. Also, the Steelers will be without running back Willie Parker. Baltimore’s offense has been mediocre at best. The Ravens rank 15th in points scored and 19th in yards gained. Their main strength is their running game as they are first in the league in average yards gained on the ground. Their passing game is almost non-existent as they rank 29th in passing yards. The Steelers on the other hand rank 2nd in yards allowed on the ground. All signs point towards a very low scoring game. A 33.5 total point spread may be extremely low but it is quite evident that both offenses will struggle enormously. Expect a total of 20-25 points to be scored between both teams.
