Edmonton Oilers @ N.Y. Islanders
3* Selection: N.Y.I. -115
The Islanders had a rather sluggish start to this season but have changed things around as of late. They only have 4 wins this season but they are currently on a 3 game winning streak. Their last 3 wins came against the Rangers, Capitals and Sabres, three strong teams who each have a winning record.
It appears quite obvious that this team is beginning to build chemistry as they seem to appear better each game. Look at the results of their last five games. (10/24) 3-2 OT loss to Washington, (10/26) 3-2 OT loss to Montreal, (10/28) 3-1 win vs NYR, (10/30) 4-3 OT win vs Washington, (10/31) 5-0 win vs Buffalo. Tonight they are facing the Oilers who are 1-4 on the road this season. Edmonton has had a lot of trouble scoring as of late being shutout 3 times in their last 4 contests. They will have a tough time keeping up with the hot New York Islanders who are averaging 3.2 goals in their last 5 contests. To make things worse, Mike Comrie, Shawn Horcoff and Lubomir Visnovsky are all questionable tonight with the flu. I think that this more than a fair price to play a hot team at home as a small fave versus a struggling opponent. Take the Islanders to win this one convincingly.
