After watching the Redskins defeat the Cowboys, (redskins vs cowboys) as a 10.5 point underdog, it became quite evident that Washington is one of the most underrated teams in the league. It took some time but it appears that the players are buying into Jim Zorn’s west coast offense. Jason Campbell struggled in week 1 but since then has been phenomenal. He has a rating of 102.2, 6 touchdowns and has yet to throw an interception. He has been quite efficient and when the Eagles vs Redskins, will give the Eagles’ defense a run for their money. |
The Redskins do not have any kind of substantial offensive or defensive numbers that make them look like a dominating football team. However, they were able to upset the Cowboys. The key to their success is based on maintaining possession and forcing the opposition to turn over the ball. The Redskins rank fifth in time of possession as they have dominated this stat in their past 3 games. They held onto the ball for 63.3% of the game against Dallas. They also are tied for first in the league for turnover differential with a differential of +6. The other team tied for them in this category is Tennessee who is one of the only 3 currently undefeated teams. The bottom line is that they don’t have any kind of favorable matchup on offense or defense against Philadelphia, but they have the ability to control a football game. It is extremely difficult to beat a team that has this kind of ability.
Whenever Philadelphia is without Brian Westbrook they are clearly at a disadvantage. Westbrook might play but will not be 100%. McNabb is also nursing a chest injury and clearly is not completely healthy either. However, the main challenge that the Eagles face is playing 4 full quarters of football. The Eagles have scored a total of 110 points and only 35 of them have come in the second half. If they slow down against Washington they will flat out lose. This will be a tight divisional game. Washington will cover the 6 points and possibly even upset the Eagles.
