Philadelphia Flyers @ Buffalo Sabres

mike richards3* Selection: Philly -1.5 +190

We cannot ignore the value that we are getting on the Flyers to cover the number in this one. Philly is currently riding a 5 game winning streak and they have completely dominated their opponents in the process, outscoring them by a margin of 24-7. Four of those wins were by at least 3 goals.

Anaheim Ducks @ Detroit Red Wings

ryan getzlaf3* Selection: UNDER 5.5 +105

We are getting a lot of value in playing the UNDER here since oddsmakers are giving us positive odds. Both teams have experienced goaltending issues in the beginning of the season but at this point it looks like goaltending is no longer an issue for either club. Detroit’s backup goaltender will likely get the start since Osgood is out with the flu but he’s been almost perfect in his last two contests stopping 56/58 shots.

New Jersey Devils @ Pittsburgh Penguins

4* Selection: New Jersey +111

This line is the closest thing to a steal. The Devils are 8-0 on the road this season and are 12-2 in their last 14 overall. They travel to Pittsburgh to face the Pens who are missing a lot of key players including Malkin, Gonchar and Letang. They have struggled immensely as of late losing 3 in a row and 4 of their last 5.

Pittsburgh Penguins @ Boston Bruins

4* Selection: Boston -130

This is definitely not the most attractive line, especially considering that we are taking a shot against last year’s Stanley Cup Champions. However, all signs point towards an easy win for Boston. The Pens are plagued with injuries. Malkin and Gonchar are out and Letang is questionable.

San Jose Sharks @ Columbus Blue Jackets

4* Selection: San Jose -113

We’re getting very attractive odds on the road favorite in a contest where the road team is in a much stronger position to win the game. The Sharks are one of the hottest teams in the league right now winning 7 of their last 8 overall and 5 of their last 6 on the road.

New York Rangers @ Vancouver Canucks

2* Selection: Vancouver +102

We’re getting a great price to play a strong home team versus a team that is mediocre at best on the road. Vancouver is 6-2 at home this season, meanwhile the Rangers are only 3-4 on the road and have lost 3 consecutive road contests. If Roberto Luongo was in nets, the Canucks would easily be a -150 favorite.

Atlanta Thrashers @ Montreal Canadiens

2* Selection: Atlanta +130

Oddsmakers are giving us an irresistable price to play the road underdog in this matchup. The Habs are 6-2 at home but Jaroslav Halak was in nets for each of those victories. Carey Price will get the start tonight and he has underperformed this season losing 6 consecutive starts. He has a G.A.A. of 3.44 this season.

Edmonton Oilers @ N.Y. Islanders

3* Selection: N.Y.I. -115

The Islanders had a rather sluggish start to this season but have changed things around as of late. They only have 4 wins this season but they are currently on a 3 game winning streak. Their last 3 wins came against the Rangers, Capitals and Sabres, three strong teams who each have a winning record.

Dallas Stars @ Nashville Predators

marty turco2* Selection: Dallas +104

The Stars are in a very strong position to come out with the victory and oddsmakers are giving them positive odds. Therefore there is a lot of value playing the Stars in this matchup. Dallas is coming off a 6-5 shootout loss to Florida yesterday but their starting goaltender Marty Turco was given the day off. He will get the start tonight against a team that he has faced twice already this season, allowing a total of only 2 goals in those contests.

Colorado Avalanche @ San Jose Sharks

2* Selection: UNDER 5.5

There is a substantial amount of value in playing the UNDER in this matchup, especially considering that oddsmakers are giving positive odds. Fortunately San Jose is playing at home, where they clearly play at their best, particularly defensively. The Sharks are allowing an average of only 1.5 goals per game at home this season.

Detroit Red Wings @ Vancouver Canucks

nic lidstrom3* Selection: Vancouver +106

Detroit has yet to win a game on the road this season. Life won’t be any easier for the Red Wings as they travel to Vancouver. The Canucks are 5-1 at home this season and have allowed only 6 goals to the opposition in their last 5 home contests.

Columbus Blue Jackets @ L.A. Kings

rick nash2* Selection: OVER 5.5

The Blue Jackets and Kings have each started the season strong. One of the main reasons why they have had a strong start is because each team is able to score at will. Offensively these teams are combining for 6.9 goals per game.
