Matt HasselbeckPlatinum Pick: Under 38

This pick is straight forward. The Seahawks are really banged up. Matt Hasselbeck is missing his top 3 receivers as Deion Branch and Bobby Engram are out for week 2 and Nate Burleson is out for the season. Additionally, running back Maurice Morris, who started last game against the Bills, is also out.All in all, Seattle will have very little offensive output, even in front of their home crowd. However, one can expect a strong defensive performance as Seattle allowed only 13.88 points at home last season and in a total of 3 points in both meetings against San Francisco.

San Francisco did very little offensively last week against the Cards, generating 13 points and turning over the ball 5 times. Interestingly they were ranked last in the league in 2007 averaging points per game. San Francisco only has one playmaker on offense and it’s running back Frank Gore. You can bet that Seattle will dedicate all their efforts in shutting him down. Defensively, San Francisco is a very mediocre team, but will not be tested that much since Seattle is missing some serious depth up on offense. This will be a fairly close game but it will be a very lousy one to watch. Expect to see a lot of incomplete passes, short runs and very little offense from both sides.

Prediction: Seahawks 16 49ers 9
