saku koivuFree Pick: Canadiens Moneyline

Tonight the Montreal Canadiens will be ending their home stand against Western Conference teams for the next little while. So far, the Ducks have won their last 2 straight games against the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators. The Ducks were pretty convincing against the Senators last night until they let the Senators back into the game but still ended up winning the game 4-3. The Ducks are trying to rebound from the start of a tough season by losing there first 4 games and then winning the following 3 out of 4. Jean-Sebastien Giguere will be looking to have a solid game tonight in front of his friends and family living in Montreal.

Tonight Giguere and the Ducks will have to be in top shape to come out with a win since they will be facing a red hot Montreal Canadiens squad who have yet to lose in regulation. Chris Higgins has been cleared to come back into the lineup, playing with George Laraque and Maxim Lapierre who will add some scoring potential to a very gritty line. George Laraque will make sure that Parros and other Anaheim goons do not take any liberties on the Canadiens top 6 without being punished for them. So far this season the Ducks are the 4th most penalized team in the NHL while the Canadiens havent been playing their best on the powerplay so far but it should improve drastically over the next couple of games as Tanguay becomes used to his role at the point making diagonal passes to Kovalev in the corners.

So far this season there are many Anaheim players who have underachieved with Corey Perry having yet to score a goal and Getzlaf getting his first goal of the campaign last night. As long as the Canadiens can contain Perry, Getzlaf and Selanne they should not have a problem beating the Ducks tonight. Saku Koivu has been hot since the beginning of the season leading the Canadiens in points (3 goals, 6 assists, 9 points) and will continue to contribute on the powerplay and 5 on 5. Halak will get the start tonight in nets for the Canadiens as they look to remain unbeaten and notch they 7th win this season.
