Montreal Canadiens @ Toronto Maple Leafs: Moneyline
|
Last night, the Toronto Maple Leafs were able to stun the reigning Stanley Cup Champions, the Detroit Red Wings with Nikolai Kulemin scoring the game winning goal in the third period. I would not count on that happening again since the Leafs are a very young team and don’t have many players capable of playing on the Top 6. The Canadiens were victim of a tough loss in shootouts last night will be seeking some redemption and their first victory of the 2008 campaign. |
Even though on paper the Canadiens have a much stronger team than the Leafs this season, the Leafs always come out in full force against the Canadiens, especially at home. Last season, all of the games played at the Air Canada Centre between the Canadiens and Leafs ended in either overtime or shootouts except one. The Canadiens/Leafs ended up splitting their series at the ACC 2-2. It is rather interesting that the Leafs haven’t opened a season with two straight wins since starting 3-0-0 in 1999-2000. While the Leafs have won 5 of their last 7 games versus the Canadiens in Toronto, except an exciting yet one goal game in favor of the Canadiens. Jaroslav Halak will be getting his first start in goal tonight while Alex Tanguay will be looking for his first goal of the campaign who has shut down and held without a shot on goal versus the Sabres. Expect Robert Lang to continue where he left off last night while reigniting that old chemistry on the powerplay between him and Kovalev.
