Washington Capitals @ Dallas Stars: Moneyline
|
So far this season, the Capitals and Stars have failed to live up to the expectations set for them by the fans and media. Part of the reason for the Stars failing to live up to expectations so far this season can be attributed to the dismantling of the Ribeiro, Eriksson and Morrow line. During the final leg of the Stars road trip against the Islanders, the #1 line was been put back together and they responded with conviction producing 4 goals and 6 assists. Marty Turco seems to be still searching for his A-game giving up a league high 29 goals thus far. |

On the other hand, the Capitals haven’t been much better at meeting expectations. Both Alexander Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom are having a tough time in the scoring department with Ovechkin not scoring a single goal in the last 5 games. This scoring slump should not last much longer for Ovechkin since he is easily one of the top 5 players in the NHL and a superstar of his stature does not stay in slumps for very long. Backstrom will help Ovechkin come out of his mini slump pretty fast considering he was a calder cup finalist last year and also has the skills to do alot of damage in the NHL. Historically, the Capitals have always been a slow starting team, but with Alexander Semin already on fire, look for Ovechkin and Backstrom to join him shortly. The Stars will be missing their key defensemen, Sergei Zubov, which will hurt the Stars as long as Ovechkin and Backstrom find their scoring touch tonight. The Capitals will win and look for Ovechkin and Theodore to have big games.
