Green Bay Packers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Spread
|
I like Tampa in this one because last week Aaron Rodgers struggled for the first time. Dallas managed a very efficient pass defense and limited Green Bay to 16 points. Rodgers appeared to struggle against a strong defense as he only completed 56.4% of his passes and had a rating of 80.1. He threw for 290 yards but didn’t throw a single touchdown. |
These numbers are not terrible by any means, but they prove that he will have a mediocre performance against a strong defense. The Bucs have one of the most efficient defensive systems and are even tougher to play against in Tampa. The Bucs have allowed an average of 19 points per game, ranking ninth in the NFL. Green Bay has been very successful offensively but if you omit their 48-25 blowout against 0-3 Detroit, the Packers are averaging 20 points per game. Tampa is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 at home. If you ignore their loss to the Giants in the playoffs and week 17 of last season where they rested all their starters, the Bucs are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 home games and have allowed an average of 10.75 points per game. The Bucs have been successful offensively as they rank 7th in the NFL in yards gained and are averaging 23.7 points per game, ranking 14th in the league. Green Bay has struggled defensively as they rank 27th in yards allowed and 22nd in points allowed. Their defense will be weakened as Al Harris is sidelined with a spleen injury. Expect this to be a close game with Tampa coming on top and quite possibly winning the game in the fourth quarter.
