Free Pick: Packers +5.5

I would hate betting against the only undefeated team in the league with a 7-0 ATS record this season. However, an upset in this matchup would make a lot of sense. The Packers are well rested as they are coming off their bye week and are very likely going to have James Jones, Atari Bigby and Al Harris back in the lineup. All three of these players are playmakers and will contribute towards Green Bay’s success versus Tennessee.

The Titans on the other hand played Monday night and will only have 5 days rest. The Packers offensively and defensively are quite underrated. Aaron Rodgers has thrown 12 touchdowns to 4 interceptions for 1668 yards. He has been quite impressive as of late throwing 6 touchdowns to interception in his last three outings. The Packers defensive backs have 13 interceptions this season. The addition of Harris and Bigby will make it tougher for Tennessee to move the ball. It is important to note that one of the reasons the Titans are undefeated is because they have had a fairly easy schedule. They have played only one team that currently has a winning record.

The Titans have one of the best pass defenses in the league. They allow an average of 185.3 yards through the air but surrendered 223 passing yards to Peyton Manning. The Packers have a much more efficient passing attack than the Colts. Therefore it is reasonable to assume that Aaron Rodgers will have significant success at moving the ball. Green Bay’s toughest challenge will be stopping Tennessee’s running attack. The Titans are averaging 145 yards per game on the ground ranking fourth in that category, meanwhile the Packers are allowing 141.9 yards on the ground, ranking 25th in the NFL. Overall, I like the Packers because they will be an efficient team on both sides of the football.

Their main advantage over Tennessee is that they have a much more efficient passing game. Their main disadvantage is that have a weak rush defense. However, the Colts who have had even more difficulty at stopping the run than Green Bay, found a way to limit Tennessee to 88 rushing yards. If Indy can do it, so can Green Bay, especially with Atari Bigby in the mix. Green Bay’s secondary won’t have any difficulty limiting Tennessee’s passing attack. The Packers currently have the 6th best pass defense in the NFL, meanwhile Tennessee ranks 27th in passing yards. Expect this to be an exciting game and for the Packers to come out with the victory.
