Baltimore Ravens @ Indianapolis Colts: Spread
|
If you want to bet on the Ravens I have one suggestion for you… Bet now! The line opened at +6.5 and has already dropped to +4.5. In reality, Indy should not be more than a 3.5 point favourite. The Colts are 2-2 and had to depend on miracle fourth quarter comebacks to beat Houston and Minnesota. If the Colts had that much trouble actually winning against these 2 mediocre teams then there is no question that they will have a tough time against the Ravens. Baltimore will simply SHUT THEM DOWN! |
The Colts are struggling to find their identity as one of the league’s most dangerous offenses. This team ranked fifth in yards gained and third in points scored in 2007 and currently rank 16th and 20th in those respective categories this season. Additionally, they are dead last in rushing yards. They will be facing a Ravens defense that rank first in yards allowed and third in points allowed. What’s really scary is that the Ravens defense is very balanced. They rank first in both rushing and passing yards allowed. If the Colts want to have a chance at putting up some points on the board, Peyton Manning and company will have to find a way to start clicking and regain their 2007 season form.
The only reason Baltimore is 2-2 rather than 3-1 or 4-0 is because they already played the Titans and the Steelers. The combined record of these two teams is 9-1. The Ravens only lost by a field goal to each team. Therefore, the spread in this matchup is quite favourable for Baltimore. The Ravens main weakness is their lack of depth on offense. They are led by rookie quarterback Joe Flacco who hasn’t put up good numbers. He’s only thrown 1 touchdown and has 4 interceptions. Baltimore depends heavily on its running game as they rank fourth in rushing yards and 31st in passing yards. The Colts are the worst team in the NFL this season at stopping the run. Thus, you can expect the Ravens to run the ball heavily and maintain possession to control the ball game. The Colts are still without safety Bob Sanders and this will open the game up nicely for Baltimore.
Expect this to be a close one. There is a good chance Indy will win it but they won’t be winning be more than a field goal. The Ravens will cover anything over 3.5 points.
Prediction: Indianapolis 17 Baltimore 16
